Aerial Photographs Around the World

Aerial photography has always fascinated me. Looking down from a high distance gives a very different perspective on the world. I have tried it myself during a heli-tour above the bungle bungles NP in Western Australia.

Although I think made a good effort I can't compare to Yann Arthus-Bertrand. His book "Earth From Above" sold 3 million copies. 

The Grid : Online video Talkshow about photography and photoshop

Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowsi are presenting a new online live videotalkshow about photography called The Grid

The Grid is a video talk-show format (about Photography & Photoshop), but each week The Grid will have an in-studio guest for the entire 30-minute show, plus they will be doing video chats with a lot of famous photographers, Photoshop experts, and industry leaders.

This not the first show hosted by Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski. Together with Dave Cross they host Photoshop User TV . A must see for photoshopaholics.

Japan earthquake and tsunami photos

The power of nature has resulted in sheer devastation after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Looking at CNN and seeing the tidal wave demolish everything in it's way makes me realize how powerless we are. The Denver Post posted images on it's photoblog.  These frozen moments in time are even more impressive.

Long time since my last post

It has been a long time since my last blog post. Reason is that I've been using my iPad most of the time. Writing a blog from an iPad isn't easy.  As far as I know there aren't any blogspot apps. Sure I could use the web interface but that doesn't work well. As good as the iPad is, it isn't working well for creating content.  But what the iPad does have are some great photography apps


Fotopedia National Parks
This app shows photos from the 58 national parks of the USA taken by Quang-Tuan Luon. He was the first person to take photos of all 58 parks with a large format camera. The images are  amazing. It is a paid app but well worth the price!

Peter Lik Opus HD

The app contains the full contents of Peter Lik's 25 Year Anniversary Book, text with every photo, and 33 videos that feature Peter talking about a selection of the photographs. At $8.99 this isn't a cheap app but compared to the $2000,-  paper version it is a steal. By the way if you still want the paper version be sure you can handle the 40lbs is weighs!

Alcazar in Sevilla

Below are shots from the Alcazar in Sevilla.

The Alcazar is an old palace in the city centre of Sevilla(or is it Seville). It is an old palace from both the moorish and christian empires of ancient Andalusia. It is a great place to wander around and look at the beautifull gardens and architecture

Arcos de la Frontera

View from our hotel in Arcos de la Frontera. Isn't it great? The drive up to the hotel was a different story. We did not make it without a small dent in our hired car. Those alleys are quite small and steep! We decided to park in the underground parkinglot in the city centre and walk up the hill.



Exploring my iPad

It has been a while since my last post. I have been busy with my new iPad. Bought the 32Gb 3g version (only using WiFi at he moment). I think it's great. But what makes it a beautiful device to use? It's not because it's made Steve Jobs. I think it's the size. It just the right size for couch surfing.  I guess size does matter.

One of my favorite apps on the iPad is Fotopedia Heritage. This app is like a coffee table book of Unesco World Heritage sites. You navigate through 20.000 pictures and when you want you can get more information or map of the location. Best of all it's free! Give it a try.
